Pakistan Caught in the Whirlwind Rs.995.00/-

$31.00

This book is indeed a critical analysis of history of political development of Pakistan. The hypothesis floated in the book, seeking peaceful coexistence of two people who are identical in more than one way, finds it difficult to sustain in wake of the political absurdities being committed by certain imprudent elements. With more Muslims in India, Pakistan has long lost its postulation that it was carved out of British India as a nation for Indian Muslims.

The two nation theory, which saw its silent burial after partition of Pakistan, had been based on a faulty proposition that Hindus and Muslims of India were two distinct nationalities. Post formation, its nation building has gone through twists and turns of political turbulence that has been discussed in detail in this book. Besides focusing on the infamous military regimes, the author has also analyzed socio-political upbringing of this nation under popular governments. Having discussed the foreign policy dilemmas of the country, its role in pre and post-Taliban Afghanistan has also been dwelled upon.

Nation’s obsession with K word seems to have shut all its routes to rationality and prosperity besides denying it the privilege of peaceful coexistence with its parent country. The author has also attempted to look through the frosted glass to perceive possible future scenario for the nation that continues to remain an uncertainty.

About the Author

Wg Cdr C Deepak Dogra is a serving Air Force Officer. He was commissioned into Administrative branch in 1994. As an officer of Administrative branch, he has held varied assignments at various levels of administrative hierarchy of IAF which includes tenures at many frontline bases, HQ Western Air Command and training establishments like Air Force Academy and Air Force Technical College. He is presently posted as Joint Director Pension/Welfare at Directorate of Air Veterans, Air Headquarters.

Being a native of J&K state, he was exposed to harsh realities of war environs at a very tender age. Born to an agriculturist family in turbulent Chhamb sector of POK, he witnessed losing everything in the Indo-Pak war 1971and becoming homeless. He has always been a keen follower of geo-political and socio-political happenings in that part of the subcontinent. As a war victim and a student of polity, he always sympathized with the common folks on both sides of Indo-Pak border who get unnecessarily tousled up in the political wrangling and has always prayed for peace to prevail. He austerely believes that whatever be the circumstances and whatever be the compulsions, empty stomachs will always value a piece of BREAD more than a heap of BULLETS.

He had learnt the art of expression midst the tough times of his early childhood spent in a refugee camp at Kishanpur, near Udhampur (J&K). He has been writing poetry and prose since those days. Having published four books of literature, he has dared to venture into writing this book which is indeed a critical history of political development of Pakistan and a direct result of his two years Research Fellowship at Centre for Air Power Studies. He holds a Masters degree in Political Science and a Doctoral degree on Voting Behaviour from Mysore University.
