The Southeast Asia consists of two geographic regions namely the Maritime Southeast Asia, comprising Philippines, East Malaysia, East Timor, Indonesia, Brunei, and Singapore and the Mainland Southeast Asia, also known as Indochina, comprising Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, West Malaysia and Vietnam.

The Alliance role and development within the members’ nations and its impact. The alliance is much more than unity in constructive development to economic prosperity. It also highlights the developmental activities and achievements in the region and for the nations.

Act East (formerly Look East Policy) initially focus on each of the five countries in the Indo-China region that abuts India, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar which also have a strong Buddhist tradition. This land link could be projected as a means of access and exposure for students, academics, pilgrims and tourists as a special feature of the relations with Southeast Asia in general.

Act East Policy to give a new dimension. The continuous meeting and intermingling of people from diverse social backgrounds helps in crafting a liberal and cosmopolitan attitude to life. India is ideally placed to spur a movement catalysed.

The ministry of DoNER would provide `125 crore for the project with thrust on the cultivation of fruits and large cardamom, Minister added. “Initially we will focus on these two items. Later we will go for cultivation of other crops. We are starting this project in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on Act East. It will also be symbolic of the ‘Make in Northeast’ concept we are focusing on,” said Jitendra Singh adding that the produce is expected to meet the demands of neighbouring countries of the northeast.

The regional cooperation poses challenges, awaken for the scope of alliance to get reward in return of peace, development and for the member nations and neighbouring countries. The study also analyses the present scenario of issues and development. The study brings out the prospect and scope in trade, connectivity by road and air, friendly relations in socio-political aspect. The mutual respect, cooperation, understanding is the only gateway for progress, peace, security and development.
