9/11 has changed the world geopolitically, geoeconomically and geostrategically. Even through USA was the most hated nation of the world yet it received sympathy and good-will of most of the world including some Muslim countries. USA could muster a global alliance for ‘Operation Enduring Freedom’, the war against global terrorism. Pakistan the university of terrorism, which was a major part of the problem, was made into a part of the solution by USA. USA let go of the opportunity to end global terrorism and forgot its commitment to the rest of the world. Instead USA and UK decided to launch ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’; a regime change in Iraq. That operation divided the world. USA lost the support of the UNO, the NATO, the EU and many others. USA displayed unilaterlaism of the highest order in utter disregard of the world opinion and international law. Consequent to these events India’s external security developed a new perspective. India has had to evolve new approach to international relations to safeguard its national interest and security.
