The book depicts the remarkable journey of a former Director General of Police (DGP), born to parents from a humble background, starting schooling at the age of 7 years in a remote village but ultimately achieving such heights as to get in the IPS in 1957 and receiving coveted decorations of Police Medal for Meritorious Service and President Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

During his more than thirty years of police career, he had the taste of melodramatic events and experienced various ups and downs and weathered the storms and straits successfully. In the melodrama of violence, rape, murder, illegal trade, conspiracy, Punjabi Suba agitation, unwarranted political interference, police helplessness and high-handedness, betrayal and prejudice that unfolded during this period, the author emerged as a more seasoned, confident and strong-willed officer. He proved his mettle as Commandant PAP Battalion deployed in J&K and as District Police Chief and Range DIG. As a Police Chief of Haryana, he spared no efforts to tone up the administration and raise its functioning and efficiency. He put in his best to handle the most sensitive issue of terrorism with strong determination.
