In none of the accounts of the wars fought between the Arabs and the Israelis during the past twenty-five years has the Arab side of the story been adequately portrayed whereas the Israelis and their sympathizers in the Western world have published numerous books glorifying Israeli victories, often with exaggeration. This book is an attempt as a corrective in this direction: it presents a balanced picture of the war of October 1973.
