About the book
This book is an autobiographical account of an officer of the Indian Army. The narrative starts from his boyhood, when he became the youngest wrestling disciple of a ‘Rustam-e-Hind’. It goes through his youth, his selection into the Indian Military Academy (IMA) - and experiences therein. It continues into his experiences as an army officer and also covers the battle experiences of the two Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971. It terminates with his experiences as an advocate at Judge Adjutant General (JAG) branch.
About the Author
Lt Col Rajinder Singh Modgil (Retd) was commissioned into Regiment of Artillery in June 1960. He served in field, heavy, mountain (Pack) and medium Regiments. A graduate of Punjab University in 1955, he got LL.B. Degree from Mysore University in 1983 while in service. He took part in the Battle of Dograi during 1965 war as an authorised observation post officer of the artillery brigade, supporting 3 JAT. He was the Brigade Major of 11 Artillery Brigade during 1971 war, in the desert of Sind. He led the Artillery Guns driving astride the railway line into Pakistan. He retired in 1989 as Deputy Assistant Adjutant General of Western Command. On re-employment, he served with Legal branch in Karnataka sub area and Area HQ at Madras.
He likes painting as a hobby and has painted about 300 paintings, which adorn homes, hospitals, institutes in India, USA and Australia.
