I think this book is interesting to read but I beg to differ with the author. I do not see a great example of "White Out" operations here. I see an example of courage, grit, determination, some skill, etc but not military genius of say an Alexander's caliber. Indeed if the author thinks Zorawar should be an essential reading for our military staff then at best he can argue for a weekend seminar or some sort. This book is also not a great example of an in-depth study of Zorawar's campaigns because there is not enough details to gauge why he was successful at all. And in the very end to get your people stuck deep inside enemy territory is not the best example of how things should be done. I believe the story of Zorawar's underlings who fought their way out of the debacle would perhaps make a better read as to how to survive a quagmire. There is no denying Zorawar's courage and initiative and from that point this is an interesting read. If the author's point is that Indian's can have an aggressive psyche and take the initiative then the story of Zorawar ably demonstrates this and puts to shame the lack of initiative on part of most of our military leaders in most of our Wars.
